Where the Sandwich model hits a wall

Sandwich Video has earned its reputation. Their product launch videos for major tech companies are genuinely excellent. But the model that made them great also makes them inaccessible for most companies:

• The waitlist is brutal. Sandwich is in demand. Getting on their production calendar can take months. If you have a product launching in 6 weeks, you're not making their schedule. For companies that need to move at startup speed, the wait alone is a disqualifier.
• Pricing is designed for venture-backed launches. Sandwich projects typically run $100K-$300K+. That's calibrated for well-funded startups with big launch budgets. If you're a Series A company or a bootstrapped SaaS, the math doesn't work — especially for a single video.
• One format, one aesthetic. Sandwich's signature is polished, live-action product demos with a specific visual sensibility. It's beautiful. But if you need motion graphics, 3D product visualization, character animation, or social-first content, you're outside their wheelhouse. You still need another production partner for the rest of your content stack.
• Silicon Valley focused. Their client base and creative lens are heavily Bay Area tech. If your brand has a different personality — scrappier, more editorial, less "clean tech startup" — their style might not be the right fit for your audience or positioning.
• Project-based, not relationship-based. You hire Sandwich for a launch video. They deliver it. Then the engagement ends. There's no ongoing content production, no monthly creative partnership, no one building institutional knowledge about your brand over time. Every new project starts from scratch.
• Traditional production pipeline. Live-action shoots mean crews, locations, talent, and post-production timelines. It's a proven model but a slow one. When you need to iterate quickly, test creative variants, or produce content at a faster cadence, the traditional pipeline becomes a bottleneck.
